Warriors

Warriors are the corruption-fighting force that keep the world from collapsing.

Warriors have existed as long as humans have, though they have not always kept their worlds so separate. In early human civilizations, Warriors could be hailed as leaders, soothsayers, or priestesses; however, as the world became bigger, more and more people wanted Warriors to be split off, often citing a fear of corrupt power in the hands of those most equipped to hurt people.

The Warrior world has remained highly connected internationally, using their powers to access the Outer Dimension and to teleport to each other or to travel between lands. Often, the Warriors as a collective group elect to remain away from non-magic conflicts, noting that their abilities could cause casualties in far greater numbers than any non-magic soldier; however, many Warriors will personally fight. The legality of the Warriors fighting non-magic battles is complicated, and there are Warriors whose entire job is sorting out disagreements between the Warriors and the governments who may hold issue with them.

Warriors are typically considered in one of two major groups: Combatant and Assistant. Combatant Warriors are those we see in the main story: people who follow Corruption, who destroy it and prevent it from consuming innocent people and cities. On the other hand, Assistant Warriors are those who allow combative Warriors to do their job without worrying. These Warriors are vital to the operation of Warriors as a whole, and consist of facilities managers, IT technicians, doctors and nurses (who typically handle standard injuries, but also those who specialize specifically in corruption-based injuries), chefs, lawyers, and so on. Assistant Warriors do not necessarily have to make a bargain, but Combatants do, because without the bargain, they would not be able fight Corruption without taking heavy injury.

Warriors do not consider themselves to form a country, though they do consider themselves to form a culture. Most Warriors, however, also consider themselves to be of their birth country, so the Warrior community winds up being a beautiful mixture of many different languages, cultures, and peoples. Due to the nature of bargains, the Warrior community also tends to have an unusual view of disability, and how to define it.

Despite not being a country, Warriors do have a governing body, known as the Council of Warriors. They are composed of 12 Warriors, with a minimum of 4 Combatants and 4 Assistants, voted in by any Warrior.

Warriors tend to live and work either near one of the six Warrior academies, or in or around one of the various "Warrior Embassies." Both of these locations contain portals to the Outer Dimension, where Corruption can enter the world in a controlled and supervised manner, and be destroyed before it can cause major harm.
